Lockerbie is a professional artist from the Sleat Peninsula on the
Isle of Skye, in Scotland.Ā
Donna
and her sons have teamed up to clean the beaches of
this beautiful island by collecting washed up plastic fishing floats
and buoys and give them a second life through superb artwork.
Sadly,
lost and abandoned fishing gear, which is deadly to marine life,
makes up the majority of large items of plastic pollution in the
oceans and ends up on our beaches.
At Scouting For Buoys
we are aiming to clear the beaches of the Isle of Skye ofĀ flotsam andĀ jetsam, and especially plastic by collecting items that can be
upcycled or recycled.Ā
Donna uses high quality acrylics and glosses to transform lost fishing floats and buoys, driftwood and beach pebbles into exquisite pieces of art.Ā
The beautiful rope work is done by her husband, a retired fisherman.Ā
